The Man in Seat 61
Maybe you don’t like flying, or are concerned about air travel’s contribution to global warming. Or perhaps you just prefer real travel by train or ship, where the journey is part of the adventure… Either way, The Man in Seat Sixty-One will tell you how to travel overland comfortably and affordably where you might think that air was now the only option. The site includes travel information for the UK and worldwide.
Sustrans
The largest UK sustainable transport charity. Their site can give you a lot of advice about more sustainable types of transport and opportunities available to you.
National policy
TRANSform Scotland
The campaign for sustainable transport – an alliance of groups who campaign for a more sensible transport system, one less dependent on unsustainable modes such as the car, the plane and road freight, and more reliant on sustainable modes like walking, cycling, public transport and freight by rail or sea. There are also some great animations on their home page summarising the difference between what politicians say and do in relation to transport policy.
