If you like what SEAD does, there are a number of ways you can support our work.
Become a member
This is really important. SEAD’s members have ensured its survival over the last 30 years. We depend on our membership to endorse our work – to give us a mandate for our community-oriented approach. We also rely on our members for ongoing financial support which has seen us through the highs and lows of the competitive funding environment!
Become a volunteer
There are countless ways you can volunteer to support SEAD’s work. Sometimes we need people in the office to help with research, administration and events organising. And we also need people out in the field, working with community groups all over Scotland. We provide Training for Trainers, to support our volunteers to develop their own community work. Contact us by email to board at sead.org.uk or by Facebook or Twitter, to discuss possibilities.
Make a donation
If you would like to support us with a donation, you can do so using the SEAD membership and donations form (100Kb PDF).
Promote our work to your friends, family, colleagues or community
Many people support us in this way, and it’s one of the most effective ways of expanding the reach of our resources. Here are a few examples of the sorts of things people have been doing so far:
Distribute our publications
Here’s how many people are spreading the word:
- Doctors have asked us for copies of our climate booklet, Rising to the Climate Challenge (1.1MB PDF) to leave in their surgery waiting room
- Teachers have asked us for the booklet to distribute to classes working on sustainability issues in some Secondary Schools
- Sustainability officers from several local authorities have ordered copies to distribute as part of their work
- Lots of people have ordered copies to give to their friends, colleagues and family
Promoting our workshops and services
Concerned community members are inviting us to come and give workshops as part of getting their community active on climate change issues. For more information about the help we can offer, have a look at the Switch On to Climate Change pages of this site.
Some groups are adding our details to local newspapers, newsletters and other project websites to help promote the services we can offer.
